National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalist
Posted on 09/26/2017

Poplar Bluff High School senior Adeesh Mishra has been named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program among approximately 16,000 students nationwide who scored above the state average on the preliminary SAT, which for Missouri is 211.

Adeesh is invited to write an essay as part of a checklist for a chance to be named a finalist in the program. “It opens up a lot of avenues for colleges,” said Adeesh, who was made aware of the opportunity by Poplar Bluff’s previous recipient, Humza Siddiqui of the Class of 2017.

About half of the finalists will receive scholarships that are underwritten by the not-for-profit organization plus over 400 businesses and higher education institutions that share the goal of encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence, according to a press release from the corporation.
